Over the last few weeks our team has been working on gaining agent authorisation with HMRC for all of our clients. Holding authorisation as your payroll provider is mutually beneficial as it gives us permission to speak with HMRC regarding PAYE matters on your behalf which means you do not have to sit in the queues! It also means we will receive the same information from HMRC that you do regarding any PAYE matters, this keeps us informed and allows us to sort any issues that may arise with relative ease.
If we do not already hold authorisation, it is very likely that you may have received an email or letter from us informing you that we have applied for authorisation on your behalf and you will be receiving a letter through the post with an authorisation code to send back to us. It is very important that you send us this code as soon as you receive it as it will expire after 30 days of being issued.
The letter containing the authorisation code will look similar to the below example and will arrive to the address that HMRC holds for yourself; this generally takes around 1-2 weeks to arrive after we applied for it. Once we receive the code from yourself, we will submit it to HMRC and the letter can be destroyed.
Rest assured your payroll will be processed as normal regardless of if we hold authorisation for PAYE or not. And if you have any questions or concerns regarding this process, please do not hesitate to contact a member of our team.
