Training and Development for you and your PA
If you are in receipt of a Direct Payment or Personal Health Budget and employ Personal Assistants (PAs) it is important that you help them to be able to fulfil their role to the best of their abilities.
This means that they need to have training in all aspects of the tasks you want them to do for you.
For example COOKING – they will need to know about the following
- Food Hygiene – keeping the food you eat safe
- Fire – a pan fire
- Infection Control – bacteria
- Health and Safety – slips trips and falls
- First Aid – burns
- Moving & Positioning – bending down and stretching
I bet you didn’t think that this simple task would take so much training!
ALL of this training and more is available FREE to you through Surrey Independent Living Council (SILC) and Teme Training.

Christina Candey – a Surrey IE who won the Skills for Care ‘Best Individual Employer’ Award 2017 says:
“All of my staff have been trained by SILC and I attend the Good Boss Training. The Training Team are absolutely fantastic. They have time to listen to my needs and those of my PAs and work with us to ensure that everything we want is covered in the training. I would highly recommend them for all of your training.”
